Advantages of a Whitehaus Fireclay Sink
The fireclay sink makes a distinctive design
statement in any kitchen. They are attractive, durable, stain resistant and spacious.
What is Fireclay: Fireclay is a natural clay, a variation of vitreous china that has a greater amount of quartz and
minerals. It is denser, thicker and approximately 30% heavier than regular clay. This allows for a more durable, smooth, flat surface on large fixtures, not attainable with standard china.
Quality Finish:
Whitehaus Collection fireclay glaze provides durability and shine for the lifetime of the sink. The formulated glazing process ensures that your sink is stain and scratch resistant and also impervious to bacteria from
food preparation. Extremely hot or cold water has no effect on the sink.
Cleaning the sink: Mild soap and water or a gentle cleaner is all that’s needed to keep your sink like new. Wipe the sink dry
with a clean, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scrubbers. To avoid potential stains refrain from leaving tea bags and coffee grounds in the sink. If scuffing does occur it can easily be buffed out with
Gel Gloss and a soft cloth.
Fireclay Process: Fireclay sinks are handmade and take several days to produce. Liquefied fireclay is poured into a 2 piece porous mold. When the excess water has been absorbed
and the sink has set, the mold is opened. The sink is removed and the mold is hand finished, and slowly dried to prevent cracking. An extra thick coating of glaze is applied by hand. The sink is sprayed with a mixture
made of finely ground glass and fired in a kiln at 1250 degrees to fuse the glaze to the sink. After the sinks cools, it is inspected for flaws. Whitehaus Collection quality control inspectors pride themselves on
accepting only the best of the sinks to ship to your home.
